Privacy
epicMIDI is made by Timothy Capelle. This page is the privacy policy for the iOS / iPadOS app and for epicmidi.com. Effective 4 September 2026.
The app does not collect you
The epicMIDI app does not create an account, does not sign you in, and does not send your projects, MIDI, or usage to us. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising, no crash reporter that phones home, and no tracking.
- Songs, patterns, banks, and MIDI files live on your device unless you export them yourself (Files, share sheet, AirDrop, another app).
- MIDI is sent only to destinations you pick: hardware, other apps, or hosted Audio Units.
- Background audio is off unless you turn it on. That setting stays on the device.
Permissions iOS may ask for
| Permission | Why the dialog exists | What we do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | iOS requires this for some audio-session and Inter-App Audio / hosted Audio Unit paths. | We do not record your voice or upload audio. |
| Local network | Finding Audio Units and Inter-App Audio destinations on the LAN. | Discovery only. We do not scan or profile your network. |
| Files / iCloud | You open or save a project, bank, or MIDI file. | Only the file you chose. We do not browse the rest of your disk. |
You can refuse any of those. The app still runs as a MIDI editor; some hosting / file features will not.
This website
The TestFlight form on the overview page asks for an email, a device, and
an optional note so we can send you a beta invite. That submit goes to
Formspree (formspree.io), which emails Timothy. We do not sell
it, put it in a newsletter, or use it for ads. Delete-request: email the
address you used, or write from it.
The rest of the site is static HTML. No accounts. No cookies required to read the manual.
Children
The app is a music tool, not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page updates. Keep using the app and you accept the current text.
